2nd Chance Animal Rescue is truely an amazing place. The work they do for animals is incredible and while they are small, they never give up on making sure that every animal finds a home. From Dogs & Cats to Snakes & Guinea & Pot Belly Pigs, I’ve seen their team work tirelessly to give animals the 2nd Chance they deserve. I’m also lucky enough to have adopted my furever friend Dolly from the rescue!
I love this rescue! I volunteer and many of my friends do as well. We are a happy little family with no paid staff, just love in our hearts for all animals. This rescue has done so much good in our community. I am very happy and proud to be part of it!

I have been volunteering with the rescue for more than a year. I'm proud to be part of such a needed cause in our community. My fellow volunteers use their whole hearts and physical efforts while providing care and the attention to meet the needs of all of our furry friends. The rescue is completely funded by donations and grants, which is an amazing thing in and of itself. I encourage everyone I know to be involved in an organization that they are passionate about and does so much good, it really is the best feeling and worth every bit of the blood sweat and tears.
2nd Chance does such amazing work in our community. They have a passion for the animals and it's so easy to see! Wayne County is lucky to have such a great organization dedicated to finding animals good homes.
I have been volunteering with 2nd Chance for over a year now and want to share a little bit about the benefits of supporting this organization. We are made up of normal people with other job, family, and personal commitments. None of us are paid for our time—we MAKE time because we love animals. We clean. We market. We raise funds. We celebrate adoptions. We mourn losses. Most importantly, we do everything to make a difference for the animals in our community. Please consider supporting us in any way you can.
These people work so hard to make sure the homeless animals of Wayne County are loved and placed with wonderful forever homes. Plus, they’re all volunteers. It’s amazing!
This little guys name is Kirby. We discovered him at 2nd Chance rescue. He has added so much to our family. 2nd Chance was willing to let us take him home as a foster to make sure he fit into our family of two other pups. It didn't take this little guy long to steal our hearts. We went right in and adopted him. Thank you 2nd Chance. Kirby will live the rest of his life loved and cared for.
Every animal that comes into this rescue gets the love and attention they so deserve until they find there furever home!
I have been volunteering with 2nd Chance since it opened, and I have seen nothing but continual growth in regards to the care of the animals, the condition of the facility, and the education available for the community. Considering that it is 100% volunteer ran, I'd say that is more than exceptional. They are always actively seeking grants to improve the condition of the facility and make it a better place for the animals until they can find their forever home. The director and co-director are always seeking further education in regards to animal welfare and running a shelter. Nearly everyone involved in this rescue works a paying job outside of the rescue and then donates their free time to making sure the animals are taken care of, socialized, and prepared for the best possible home. I've seen this rescue take in animals that would have quickly been turned away by other rescues and shelters for their special needs or extra time required to get them to adoptable status. I'm happy to say that I've seen all of those "special cases" go on to be adopted into loving, perfect families. I couldn't imagine not having a volunteer opportunity in my life, and I can't think of a better place to have it than at 2nd Chance.
I volunteer at the animal rescue. The animals are taken care of and made sure they get human contact. The also work with the volunteers if something is wrong or anything that keeps them from showing up. I love the animal rescue and would love to see if succedd in the future.
Love the volunteers at this rescue. Knowing that everyone that works there does it for the love of the animals instead of the money makes me realize there are people who really care out there. I am honored to be apart of such an amazing place.
