Mission: To bring the republican national convention and/or the democratic national convention to the city of tampa, tampa bay area and the state of florida, and to assist in the planning, coordinating and implementing of the marketing and promotion of the city of tampa and the tampa bay area for the republican national convention and/or the democratic national convention for the year 2012, and for the purpose of stimulating commerce within the city of tampa, tampa bay area and the state of florida, strengthening its tax base and stimulating an increase in financial support of the tampa bay area's educational, cultural and historical institutions. To promote the erection and/or maintenance of public buildings, visitor buildings, and historical sites in the city of tampa and the tampa bay area which will be visited by persons attending or accompanying those attending such conventions. To create increased employment opportunities in the city of tampa and the tampa bay area.
Programs: The organization completed or was in the planning stages of the following activities: 1)defray the expenses of state and/or local government incurred in the promotion of the tampa bay area as a suitable location for a national convention; 2)welcome convention attendees to the tampa bay area by sponsoring information booths, receptions and tours of the area; 3)facilitate commerce, such as providing the convention attendees with shopping and entertainment guides and distributing samples and promotional materials; 4)provide administrative expenses incurred by the 2012 tampa bay host committee such as salaries, rent, travel and liability insurance; 5)provide the use of an auditorium or convention center and provide construction and convention-related services for that location, such as: podiums; press tables; false floors; camera platforms; additional seating; lighting; electrical; air conditioning; loudspeaker systems; offices; office equipment and decorations; 6)proide various local transportation services, including buses and automobiles, which will be provided through the tampa bay area's mass transit system and possibly through private donors or purchased form private vendors; 7)provide law enforcement services through an agreement with local municipalities (including, without limitation, the city of tampa, the city of st. Petersburg and the counties of hillsborough and pinellas) to use their law enforcement officers, which are necessary to assure an orderly convention; 8)provide central housing and reservation services for convention attendees; 9)provide hotel rooms at no charge or a reduced rate on the basis of the number of rooms actually booked for the convention; 10)defray the cost of providing accommodations and hospitality for the committees responsible for choosing the sites of conventions; and 11)provide other similar convention-related facilities and services.
