I have volunteered at this organization for 10 years now. This young man continues to impress me with his dedication to service of others. He does a great job training service dogs for US Military Veterans. He is passionate about his community and continues to do a coat drive for the local elementary school.

Chris and his 1Boy4Change organization are nothing short of amazing! While facing his own challenges, he selfishly sets them aside to do great things for other people and animals. He has a clear vision, is determined, and relentless in the pursuit of helping others. Chris is one of the most genuine souls out there!

I have known and followed this organization for many years. What this organization does for children and veterans with issues, children with illnesses, police, etc etc is nothing shy of amazing and admirable. The tireless work that Chris does, and has done from a VERY young age, is something that should be viral because he shows that if you have a belief and a passion then absolutely nothing can get in its way. If you even just isolate it down to the service dogs that he has provided to people for many years when they weren't able to get them on their own, and yet Chris did everything from finding the dogs to the training then to even the delivery of the dogs, all while doing fundraisers to obtain the capital while he has his own medical issues is something that should be rewarded and admired over and over. While I have never had a need for Chris' help, that never stopped me from following because in a world filled with selfishness and lack of compassion, this organization proves and continually shows that even in the hardest of circumstances, there are still some amazing people out there.

Chris and his organization should be given every opportunity and award that is possible because the funny part is that while many others would only do things only when they can get things and perpetually have a hand out, Chris has and will continue to do what he does with or without the recognition or awards and he never has a hand out (meaning never expecting). For that alone should stand for why Chris deserves the world because without people like him, this world would be so much worse off since he brings in all the good. But the most spectacular part is that he has his own health issues that you can read about on his website and people that get a common cold would quit things but his issues are much more intense and severe and yet he does more and more and more.

I will always be proud of the fact that I got know him and that its always been and will always be a true honor to know real life heroes.

Our organization was fortunate enough to partner with 1Boy4Change almost 10years ago. Chris is a young man with a vision and an enormous heart who has made special things possible for the k9 and disabled communities. It has been a joy to watch him grow this organization into what it is today. Pictured here, 1Boy4Change Service Dog “Parker”, now retired from mobility service and living his best life as a therapy dog, visiting schools, libraries, nursing homes and senior centers.

It’s hard to put in to words the respect and admiration I have for this young man and his organization. Coffee for troops, raising and training service dogs for veterans, vests and heat alarms for K9’s, coats for kids, Warrior beads, paradriving and the list goes on. To go through what he’s gone through and still have the strength and determination to help others …amazing

My husband and I have been donating to 1Boy4Change for quite awhile. We know every dollar we donate will be spent very wisely. Chris is an amazing young man and does so much good for others. He purchases heat alarms and first aid kits for the handlers of Police K9s. He also gives out Warrior Beads to sick kids and adults to help them keep track of everything that they've been through. We are honored to donate to such a worthy charity.

This is an amazing young man. With all life has thrown at him, he is still on top. Thinks of others before himself and never fears to step in and lend a hand. I first connected with Chris through Hero Dogs and his wonderful companion Bronx. We met personally when he presented a service dog to a young person in Massachusetts. His poise for someone so young was heartening. His warrior bead program for people such as my 2 grandsons was inspiring. My purchases at Amazon Smile contribute donations to 1 boy 4 change. I found this nonprofit through Facebook, and I discovered a young man who is doing a lot for others, not only kids with illnesses but also K9. It has a beautiful cause that gives hope and companionship to many children who spend time in hospitals and doctor's offices. It gives them strength to continue, and is generating a change not only in these guys, but in those of us who follow them in social networks. I'm sure his parents are very proud of him.

Also he is a very big supporter of the local K( units by making sure that they have heat alarms and 1st aid kits.

He supports our law enforcement community particularly K9s by raising funds to obtain heat alarms for the cruiser so that a K9 is not going to suffer from excessive heat. Working with We Ride To Provide he assists K9 teams in obtaining first aid kits. Chris also supports our military by sending 'care' packages. I can't even begin to thank 1Boy4Change for all the encouragement he brings to myself and others. First of all, I'm amazed that he does this completely by himself. I know it takes a lot of time and dedication, especially for someone who also has chronic illnesses. When I applied for my warrior beads, I was having a tough time coming to terms with the many diagnosis's I had recently received. What Chris does makes it very obvious that I'm not alone in my battle. Each color or type of bead represents something different in my medical journey. I was astonished when I received them and saw just how many there were. I now hang them on my IV pole when I do my infusions. It reminds me just how far I've come and just how strong I am. I now keep count of things so I can apply for more beads in the future. None of this would be possible without donations and the generosity of others! Thanks again, my warrior beads are the best!

Impressive from start to finish. I was aware of 1Boy4Change & his warrior beads long before becoming acquainted with the people behind the beads. Having several health challenges of my own, I saw people from all over the country (via social media support groups) excited to receive their beads. A patients journey is long, isolating and filled with procedures the healthy world has never even heard of. The beads represent our battle, not a count of the pain endured, but of the battles won, one procedure at a time, with different colors beads representing various tests/ procedures. It's a score card that shows us we have been through hell & back, and we are still fighting; a reminder that we have come so far and today is not the day to give up. Such a simple idea, such a meaningful impact made more special by the fact your package of color specific beads are put together by a young man who is legally blind. When most adults would give up, this young man& his mom are giving back in a meaningful way. Your donations go exactly where they say it will.... I'd encourage everyone to give to this effort. As a professional grant maker, I wish I saw more non profits doing so much with this level of integrity.

The warrior beads program is amazing! Having a collection of beads to tell and record my personalised medical story has given me confidence to talk about my medical experience. It helps those around you understand what happens when I go into hospital and most importantly, warrior beads are there to remind me that I can do anything, because I have done so much already. Now whenever I lie in an MRI, have an operation, medical infusion, IV, or treatment, I think about my warrior beads. They automatically calm me down and give me courage.

I am super grateful for everything Chris and his charity have done for me. Thank you :)

Chris Carswell has been an inspiration to me for many years now. I am so proud of the many goals he has reached to make the lives of others better. When Chris sets his sites on helping others, there simply is no mountain this young man cannot move to make miracles happen.
It's such an honor to have Chris, his family, friends, foundation, and SUPER hero SD Bronx in my life. The world is a better place because Chris shares his passion for helping others with all of us.

I recently met Chris Carswell in person after having worked with his foundation for about a year. I run a foundation that provides grants to the disabled in our community who need service dogs. Chris and his foundation reviewed our grantee's application and selected a specific dog to be trained for her.

Chris provided the early training for this dog, before was moved on to get his advanced training in Tennessee. All through this process, Chris and his foundation provided the communication, reassurance and information we needed to prepare our client for their new dog.

The end result of this labor of love on Chris' part is the most amazing partnership between a highly trained service dog, and a 7 year old girl with severe disabilities.

I credit Christopher for his dedication to this work, and for his work helping Police K-9 units across the country. What an amazing young man, to have had this idea at such a young age, and to spend his teen years serving others.

He is truly a remarkable young man. His foundation is well-run, and clearly he goes out of his way to make sure that the projects he supports are successful. He, his mother and the trainer from Tennessee gave up an entire week of their summer to come to our community and train our client with their new service dog. I don't know of another organization in this area of service that does this for their clients. I know that hundreds of hours of training were donated toward the preparation of this wonderful dog.

We had a million questions. Every single one of them was answered politely and with patience, understanding that this was all new to us. Chris's team is highly skilled and highly qualified to be doing this work, and I consider them experts in the field.

Chris knows firsthand the difference that a trained service dog can make in a person's life, and he appears to be truly dedicated to making it possible for others to have the same benefit.

Wonderful young man, and a great example of what a great non-profit should be!

I met Chris and SD Bronx when they took the time out of their day visiting Miss Sue at Golden Isles Hospice to visit my husband who did not have many days left. My husband, Wilfried Stein, could no longer talk; however, I saw the light in his eyes when I told him a real Deutsche Shepard was coming in to see him. Wilfried was from Austria and SD Bronx got in the bed with him. Wilfried was delighted and swished SD Bronx's tail back and forth. My most known words in Deutsche are commands for dogs from listening to Wilfried speak to our dogs in Deutsche. Chris took the time to pose with Wilfried and SD Bronx. Chris is a selfless young man who puts his needs last and cares for others first!!

I heard of and about Chris through a mutual friend (Peg H.). In June 2013, slightly before midnight, I received a phone call from Peg. Against Pegs suggestion, I accepted and acknowledged that I would submit an application to 1B4C to become a Volunteer Trainer, and did so that moment. To my surprise, I was accepted as an Evaluator/Trainer. I can tell you countless experiences witnessed, but that would violate the privacy of the "family" members 1B4C extends its heart to. But, you can look at any photo from any delivery and its evident....intimate...compassion...pride...family.

After learning about 1Boy4Change over a year ago, I've watched this organization continuously increase their outreach program for those needing service dogs. It's an incredibly difficult task to provide resources for service dogs and matching them with the right recipients. A tireless group, even faced with obstacles. Nothing is slowing them down from helping others.

In Jan 2013 we learned about 1Boy4Change and we were immediately impressed. Janet & Chrus were supportive in us obtaining and training our puppy. Just this week we were tested and our dog, Zoey officially became a service dog. Throughout the entire process, you never feel alone or excluded. The entire 1Boy4Change organization has done nothing but amazing things. From guidance with your service dog's training to support with more personal issues. They are a non-profit organization that makes dreams come true!

1B4C paired me with my service dog in training Phoenix in May 2013. Nearly a year later we are very close to becoming a fully graduated service dog team. They have been there to support me through the whole training process and our trainer from FL even came up in November to check on us. We will be going to her to finish our training in June and I could not be more excited. SDiT Phoenix has been a blessing I never could have imagined having. Chris, Janet, and their team made that possible. I am forever grateful.

1Boy4Change actually found me and I am so glad they did! I was trying to raise $10,000 for a PTSD service dog from a different organization...something that was not going to happen anytime soon! I applied and was approved on the very day my application arrived. Since then Janet and Chris have always been available to respond to my questions. This is such a unique organization, not many places give you the opportunity to puppy raise your own service dog and interact with others who are on their waiting list. 1Boy4Change doesn't just accept you for a service dog, they adopt you into a FAMILY. Chris Carswell is a hero in my book, without his drive to help others I would not be getting the service dog I so desperately need to live a normal life. THANK YOU 1Boy4Change!

1b4c is one of the most amazing orgainiztions we have ever dealt with. my husband and i were in the process of trying to raise $13,000 for a service dog for our disabled 5 year old son. when 1b4c found out they were able to get us a dog for only $1,000 and that was covered by a grant. They haven't just helped our son but they have become a part of our family! not to mention what they do for police k9 teams with their heat alarms and providing non verbal children with ipads so they can communicate. Chris and Janet go above and beyond just being a non profit. they truly care about each of the people they help.

my son and his service dog are a perfect match and it is all because of 1b4c!

they have also helped every family i have ever asked them to consider helping.

In 1998 I was diagnosed with PTSD for my time in Bosnia. I was medically released from the service in 99. I was a mess for several years, even spending time in the hospital from my PTSD. After the hospital stay things were looking better, for I had learned had to cope with the symptoms of my disorder. This held well till Oct of last year when a stressor broke me. A three story flood had happened destroying my upstairs bathroom, through my kitchen, and into the basement where it went down the drain.

Now I had always looked over my shoulder everywhere I went, kept my back to walls and sat in corner booths at restaurants, but something was different now. I couldn’t seem to handle being anywhere for too long without having an anxiety attack. I basically started to become a shut in and stayed away from everything. Trips to stores were terrible, I hurry up so fat that I forget half of the things I would go in for and would have to send my wife back out because I couldn’t handle the anxiety. I also began missing important thing like my daughter’s soccer games and the games I did go; I was a nervous wreck when I got home.

I explained all of this one day to my other dog’s groomer and she suggested 1Boy4Change. I asked what they did and she answered with, “They help by providing those in need a service dog that is or will be trained to aid you.” Now I had heard of other disabled Veterans getting service dogs and how they changed their life and figured, I had nothing else to lose and gave Chris, 1Boy4Change a Facebook a message. Within that very day I received a group invite and message asking me a series of basic questions. Type of dog I am looking for, short or long fur, etc... I answered them all and before I knew it I was paired up to a white German shep, soon to be in training. This wasn’t to be, because the owner sold the dog, which Chris begged forgiveness for, I am an understanding person and reassured him that everything was fine, but the very same day he had another dog for me and on top of that it was already trained for PTSD.

The next week I drove down and picked up my SD and received some basic training on how to handle the dog. I would of stayed longer, but my anxiety was fried and I was having a lot of attacks, none there, save upon entering their home. I also had a long trip to make back home to do as well. When I got home, things started out fine, but quick became a problem. There seem to be issues that my SD had that were causing problems with me. This was taken care of quickly when my SD had to go back for retraining or Boot Camp as it is called and I can’t wait to get her back her in early May.

Chris is a wonderful young man and has done a lot of good in this cruel world. Even the short time I had my SD, it changed me for the better. He handles things professionally and is willing to help in any aspect that he can. I hope this young man has many years of happiness and is able to help many more people in need.

Dealing with multiple debilitating illnesses makes life extremely difficult for my 13 yr old daughter. Her greatest wish over the past few years was to have her very own service dog -- in order to make her life more livable. After being turned down a few times by different organizations, and then not knowing how on earth I'd be able to fulfill her dream of getting a service dog all on our own, along came 1Boy4Change. During one of the happiest moments of her life thus far -- my daughter found out she was accepted to receive her own service dog from this organization. Not only does the name 1Boy4Change stand for what Chris wants to accomplish -- it stands for what HE IS ACCOMPLISHING.

Quite challenging, actually. 1boy4change honored my daughters' wish for a service dog, and I have seen remarkable change in their behavior and communications. They are so wonderful & have made us part of the "1boy4change" family, which to me, has become quite a support system. 1boy4change has given me hope again. My son has type 1 diabetes that is at its best erratic and hard to control. He will spike to extremely high sugar levels for no reason, but we have to bolus for them. Then if we do not watch he will crash faster than he spiked. They have been there for me when I needed to talk willing to help me no matter what to help my son have a healthier, happier life. I feel like I have gained an extended family, one that finally understands what I go through being the mother of a special needs child. We do not have our service dog yet, since we just started the process last month, but I know that it will be a life changing event for my son once he is trained. I have hope again, and that is a wonderful thing.

It is my honor to write this review for 1Boy4Change. Chris Carswell and his mother Janet are remarkable people that give their whole hearts to this remarkable foundation. I learned about this amazing foundation through extended family members and it didn't take but a few hours for me to know that for my autistic son to have a service dog this was the foundation I would apply to. I met and talked to one of their board members and trainers filled out the paperwork and it wasn't long until our son had his remarkable service dog. Thanks to 1Boy4Change and SDIT Sugar we have seen improvements in our sons anxiety levels. Janet and Chris not only are the foundation they are family. They are always there to help and answer questions when needed. The 1Boy4Change family are a close knit family that offers support and encouragement 24/7. As far as this family is concerned you can't get any better than this.

Chris is such an amazing human being and to be all this at such a young age means there is even more amazing things to come from him. Not only am I a board member but also a mom to a child he placed a service dog with. A service dog that has made my child in to a completely different loving child. He also helped save my husbands K9 partner by installing a heat alarm in his patrol car. I could write how wonderful he is for hours!!! But instead come join our team and find out for yourself just how wonderful and amazing this young man is!!!!

I first met Chris and his mom at the Camp Boggy Creek Epilepsy Family Weekend 2012. I just don't have any words to describe them that have not already been said! This young man is my inspiration to go on and to also do good for others. I can't afford much (yet) but I have sent a donation to them for the tablets for special needs project, and have also issued a challenge on my website (http://edu.dhovey.com) for everyone to meet or beat it! In addition, I am pledging a small percentage of my profits from teaching to their organization. Janet is an awesome mom, and there is nothing in the world she would not do for her family or a friend - even a "new" friend! And CHRIS.... well... he is the heart and soul of the organization, and truly my personal hero. I am as proud of him as I would be of my own child, and love them as if they were family. You can do it Chris... go move some more mountains!! All our best... from the Hovey family

Where do I begin .well I've known this family for 5 years when my middle autistic son rode horses for special needs kids and it closed due to the most amazing little boy who is a miracle who has epilepsy now and is changing not just my boys life but others in need as well not only children but k9s as well. After the horse therapy closed I was devastated it had helped Robert in so many ways but they did it for a great cause . Now that I have a 3 yr old my youngest he has autism and non verbal and same as my middle but different in a lot of ways . One day my dad had ran into a lady ( Janet) and called me and told me about this org. That donates service dogs for these special kids and I called her same day and was reunited with this amazing mother and son again I couldn't believe it . She got us a SD so fast and sorry to say he was a lab and was so young and rough on my baby but so sweet as well he just needed to mature to a adult. We tried another and it was a German the best dog ever but was bonded to me caus body had started school and was with me all day so Janet decided it was best to get a puppy in may when he gets outta school so please help them in any way u can they r the most generous ,kindest ,helpful ,loving and u feel like u r part of there family i .
