I have worked on the Advisory Board for the Shelters - St. Anthony Family Shelter and Harbor House (for domestic violence victims) for the past 7 years. The services provided by both shelters astound me in the way that they give tools to people in dire circumstances to overcome their circumstances and establish building blocks to attain a safe and better life for themselves and their families. They truly are an asset in sharing God's Love to the people in Kansas to make a better society for us all.

The front line staff at KMH are generally very kind and caring people. They work hard to make sure residents are comfortable and happy. I had many positive interactions with staff members. The administration, however, does not care at all about the residents. They have numerous state violations for failure to chart episodes of care and if you question an action such as a wound dressing change, they have no chart notes to back up their actions/claims and they place the blame on the resident if accounts differ. <br><br>When I was out of town, my mother became suddenly immobile but no one on the nursing staff noticed that she was sitting in her own filth for several days. Once I found out and requested assistance, it took another 2 days to receive bathing assistance. <br><br>My father was struggling to care for my mother in assisted living and initiated a move for both of them to memory care for additional support. Instead of working with him to get him the support he needed and asked for, they determined that she wasn’t safe to live with him at all. They conducted an “investigation” of alleged physical and verbal abuse without speaking to either of my parents. After determining that they could not live together, they wanted us to pay for 2 separate rooms. <br><br>They advertise activities for residents but they can’t keep an activities director and most advertised activities do not take place.<br><br>I would not recommend KMH for your loved one. They cut too many corners and admins are not focused on the care of the residents.

I'm giving them no stars me and my son stayed there and tryed to get in one of there programs my son was denied and they haven't even talked or contacted me not to mention them saying we had one day leftthen they changed it it to I had one day left and my son had no days left then changed it again to we had no days left then they rushed us out of the building why would they do that to us now we're out in the heat and no shelter to get in I say unprofessional . Susan and Jennifer are a mother and daughter team that started this organization to help our local homeless veterans. I have been amazed on how big their hearts are and sacrifices they've made to make a difference our heroes lives. This is one organization my whole family volunteers for, we can truly help out our local heroes overcome dark times with these ladies!

I highly recommend giving to Sisters of St. Joseph Dear Neighbor Ministries. I have donated to this organization since 2004, and it has always been a rewarding experience for me to see the money go to great use directly in the community. This group of ladies believes in the mission of helping others, and in so doing, achieving closeness with Christ. I only heard of the organization because I lived for three years in Missouri; I am from Mississippi and have lived in the South most of my life. I give to them as often as I possibly can, and never have regretted it or questioned the use of the money. A great group of ladies and a wonderful, honestly run organization. Your money will not go to a CEO, but directly to the needs of the community and ministry.
