I've been helping to fund loans for some of the most disadvantaged people on earth, through kiva, since 2009. I started with one loan and gave $25 which was repaid to me over time. I have always re-lent the money that was repaid, and I have added additional funds when I could. As of today I have contributed to 186 loans on kiva. I trust this organization implicitly and I think that this is the best way to directly help actual people in need all over the planet. I get to see the direct impact that I have had in their lives and the lives of their families. I believe that this is the best way to combat poverty. You don't have to be rich to help someone on the other side of the planet, and you get to choose who you help and what you help them with. Battling poverty is the underlying issue for most of the other non-profits that I support, and this is the best way to do it. 'If you give a person a cob of corn you feed them for one day. If you teach them to grow corn you feed them for life'.

Ebenezer women groups. We plays a leading role in advancing women rights by making grants that support and strengthen women around our country. We teach young women their rights, how to take care of their health, and how to start off business. Also as the chairwoman and founder of this group I have been able to go around village's and towns meeting with women. As may aim is to help them physiologically, then teach them their rights, also I have been teaching them how to be un entrepreneur. I thanks God I have reach most of my plan. i am a 48 year old female african american chef. i have worked my whole life to hone my skills as a culinary profesional. i enrolled into the Womens Initiative program to try and get the tools to help my open Feathers poultry cafe in Alameda Ca. After spending the last 30 years sharing my passion and my ideas with employers, they are successful and i have very little to show for it. now im ready to try and do it for myself and Womens Initiative is an awesome program that is helping me reach my goals. ive learned so much about my lifes work that i wasnt aware of before i did this program. financial aspect, projections, passions and ideas are all a part of what they ask for when they teach you how to write a business plan. they EVERYTHING to light to help you realize you options as a small business owner. I LOVE WI. the staff is great, the instructors are awesome im gonna miss them when its all over. we graduate at the end of july and i feel very strongly that once i submit my business plan and join the success link program, WI will put me intouch with the people i need to help me live my dream. once i get the funding i will hit the ground running and i wont stop until Feathers poultry cafe is the greatest in place Alameda and i plan to use as many WI alumni as i can in my business. thank you.

I've been both a volunteer and a consultant to nonprofits for more than 30 years. Nonprofits have come a long way, but not far enough! They must do better!
