Tandem is a critical Early Learning partner in the Mission Promise Neighborhood Network. With Tandem's support, MPN families have the opportunity to build their home libraries with culturally relevant high-quality books that address the need for BIPOC representation in children's books. MPN is fortunate to partner with Tandem to get children and families excited about early literacy in the Mission District of San Francisco!

I have been a reading tutor with LearnUp for over two years now, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with them. Having worked in the education field, I love seeing what an impact LearnUp has had on students. Talking with my students, many of their comments on learning in schools is that teachers are unable to give the attention they need. At LearnUp, our one-on-one tutoring gives students the attention deserve and need to improve in their reading. Fostering positive relationships with my fellow tutors has helped create such a positive workplace environment, where I feel welcomed and appreciated by others. I love working with LearnUp and am excited to continue providing support to students!

I have tutored Reading for 2 years with kindergarten and first grade children in Berkeley. It is rewarding to see students improve their reading skills. It is fun to work with talented teachers who teach well the academics and teach how to be a compassionate person.

We are so grateful to Access Books Bay Area for their incredible generosity and support! They’ve continuously provided books for our Posadas/Christmas gifts to students as well as for our Summer Program and After School Programs at our shelters, helping us share the joy of reading year-round. We know that keeping kiddos engaged with books they want to read is key to keeping them motivated, and Access Books Bay Area does exactly that! It has been so rewarding being a supporter of Sunsar Maya over the past 8 years. The organization has grown to add new programs that provide benefits to women and children on so many levels. The staff is dedicated to its mission and they send out wonderful updates with stories and photos. It's a great organization to get involved with!

I am a teacher in San Francisco who has benefited from the great work of the Ed Fund. The dedicated staff has worked hard to place volunteers, provide resources and even done staff wellness give-aways. We even found an amazing teacher through this organization. The Ed Fund is a vital partner to the school district and I really appreciate all they have done for me and my school

I volunteered for the California Dictionary Project a few years ago during their Dictionary Day event. We were all assigned different elementary schools to visit in the Bay Area and we got to visit a classroom and distribute free dictionaries to the students. We also go to lead some activities with the students to help them learn how to use a Dictionary. It was a very organized event and I had adequate training and instructions on what to do when I got to the school. I had a great time interacting with the kids and seeing them get excited about their brand new dictionaries.

We collect books from our library to donate. They have been wonderful to work with.

Mission Learning Center is an amazing organization that has helped make a substantial impact on the San Francisco community. Since joining the Board of Directors, I have seen former students come back to discuss their experiences, crediting Mission Learning Center for instilling a lifelong dedication to reading that helped propel them to law school and other successful careers. The Mission Learning Center's ability to improve reading by 2 grade levels in less than a year is testament to MLC's powerful and proven techniques in working with students and parents to enhance education.
