I WOULD NOT GIVE THEM ANY STARS. <br> <br>THIS IS MY PRECIOUS HONEY’S STORY <br>I have a hard time believing that this place is/was a non-profit. <br>I adopted a 5 year old (so they said) female Yellow Lab (AKC) in Spring, 2012 from a rescue in my town (Mishawaka, IN). She had been “pulled” from this Missouri “rescue” (more like puppy mill) in Sept of 2011 by HSUS. She received veterinary care there in Missouri & was fostered there for several months, because “she was in such bad shape” according to the veterinary office/foster. <br>Local rescue people traveled to get her in February 2012, & several other dogs & brought them back to Mishawaka, IN to care for them, meet any further veterinary needs, & then find homes for them. I saw her then at an adoption event in April. I connected with her immediately, walked with her inside PetSmart during the event & filled out adoption papers. The next day I visited her again. Both times she was very sedate. The following day I brought her home. I could tell her coat had been shaved, probably down to her skin. (Due to matting with urine & feces from other dogs in crates above her). Her coat was only partially grown out when I adopted her several months after she was removed from this hideous place. She was still sedate & quiet when I first brought her home. I’d never had a mill rescue dog before, & had been advised that she could jump or climb a 6’ fence. I watched her closely outside. She never tried to escape. I figured it would be best to let her set her own pace in recovering from the horrible life she’d had at this so-called non-profit (actual puppy mill). She did so, slowly, & began to bond & trust me. Our first “walk” was only one house away from mine. As time went on, she began to enjoy the walks & they got longer & longer. She knew where all the dogs in the neighborhood lived. The longer the walk, the more she loved it. Her sweet personality came out & she became much more sociable & loved her life with me. I had her for a little over 3 years. Such a sweet, gentle & precious girl she was. My heart still grieves for her. <br>Sadly, she developed an illness following a dental procedure & passed 8 weeks later, in August, 2015. My heart was broken. <br>I only know this information about where my Honey came from because I took her to my veterinary office the day I brought her home. The office person here called the veterinary clinic in MO to let them know she had been adopted & would have a good home. They were very happy to know that since she had been in such bad shape when they first saw her & gave her the care she so badly needed. <br>“Michelle” was the name they mentioned from this mill where my Honey was rescued from. This place in MO with same phone #. I hope they never got a chance to hurt other dogs this way. <br>I submit this In loving memory of my precious Honey.
