When this company placed the water main lines, they purposely crossed the Right-Of-Way boundaries on several properties and placed the water main line on private properties. When the workers were confronted, they stated that the 'easements' that the property owners signed allowed them to place the water main lines ANYWHERE they chose. Even when the workers were told that the easement was to allow the meters to be placed off of the R-O-W so as to not be in the way of future utilities, the workers still stated that the easement meant that they had NO boundaries for placement of the main line and were permitted to place the main water line anywhere that they chose regardless of how far onto the private property they wanted to go. Since completing the installation of the main lines, the current field employees still parrot the same statement that the easements allow them full and complete access to everywhere on anyone's property that the water main lines cross. They have the right to place any water line anywhere regardless of where the Right-Of-Way is. I was taught and told by other utility companies that the Right-Of-Way areas are for the main lines, gas, water, sewer, electric, telephone, etc.. The easements were to allow the connections from any main line to the residences or buildings. <br> The water quality that is provided is very often substandard. There have been times the water was undrinkable, usually due to the extremely high chemical content. I know of several people whom have suffered chemical burns from bathing in this water at different times throughout the years. The customers are charged for drinking water, but are sometimes supplied with chemically hazardous water.<br> Now, FMC has installed 'smart' meters at the customer's connections and the customers are being charged for these meters. The meter fees will never be paid off to cover the cost of purchase, these fees will continue to be a charge on the customer's bill forever. I can understand the idea of being able to notice a possible leak before it gets to being a huge leak, but there should be an end date of when the purchase price is covered and some future replacement costs are covered. I feel that these meters are simply an added revenue source scam.
