Mission: Care for Children has a vision and mission to see children across the world moved out of orphanages and into local families. We work alongside governments, helping them to reduce their reliance on orphanages by developing family-based alternatives, such as foster care.
Results: As well as training 5,000+ orphanage staff, our work has led to major changes to legislation in both China and Vietnam, including the official recognition of foster care as a positive alternative to institutional care for orphans and vulnerable children. This has resulted in hundreds of thousands of orphans and vulnerable children being moved out of orphanages and into local, loving foster families.
Target demographics: Orphans and vulnerable children
Geographic areas served: Thailand, Vietnam, China and Cambodia
Programs: Specialised training and support to government orphanages and local government agencies, enabling them to set-up and run local foster care services. This means that they can start moving children out of orphanages and into local, loving families, where each child can be nurtured to reach their full potential
