Our daughter received a scholarship from Will's Dream Foundation. We currently have two children in college, and the scholarship was desperately needed and much appreciated. Will's family was kind, generous, and amazing. While attending the annual auction event, his mom and sister were very gracious. They were very accepting of the fact that our daughter was quite shy and feared crowds (and was nervous to speak publicly). Without their support, our daughter would not have been able to continue her dream. I would not hesitate to recommend people consider this a worthy cause to donate to. I support the efforts of the Silicon Valley Ice Skating Association (SVISA) as they are ambitiously seeking to save and build an ice skating facility to replace the many lost ones in Silicon Valley. Since the closing of my home ice rink, Belmont Iceland, I have helped by volunteering my time to find solutions so my three daughters will not give up their favorite sport and so they can continue to work on their flying sit spin, layback spin or flying camel spin. Due to the many lost ice skating facilities in the last decade, I hope they will not decide to discontinue this unique sport. In just a few weeks, this organization hit the ground running, working speedily to try to save our closing ice rink.<br /><br />I believe this $10,000 would help facilitate SVISA's recent fundraising efforts and end goal of building a new facility which would provide recreation for over 100,000 youths and adults alike, including programs to help Veterans, underserved children, and the elderly. Skating is a life sport that teaches persistence, focus, life skills and healthy lifestyle habits in a safe and supervised setting. Also, half of the time on the ice is being spent educating skaters, not only on how to skate as a recreational sport, but also as an art. Ice skating is truly a rewarding and growth minded sport for my triplet daughters, ages 10 and to all participants. <br /><br />My daughters have been so impacted by the loss of their local skating facility that they decided and felt the need to make a difference in our community. At a recent birthday celebration, they requested that their friends donate to SVISA in honor of their 10th birthdays in lieu of presents. <br /><br />SVISA's efforts have been pro-bono since their inception and these funds could be used to multiply their efforts immensely. <br />Thank you for your consideration for helping to save and build ice rinks in Silicon Valley by donating these funds to the Silicon Valley Ice Skating Association.
