The Ohio Alliance for Arts Education is known in the local, statewide, and national arts education fields as a leader in services provided and resources developed through extensive research and practice. I first encountered the Alliance as an Intern in Washington, DC, and then as a graduate student at Ohio State. Executive Director, Donna Collins' strong leadership provided me with opportunities to implement the skills I learned in graduate school, while also helping the Alliance. Now, a Board member for the last four years, I continue to be awed by the breadth and depth of services that the Alliance continues to provide for educators and students in Ohio and nationwide.

Once a month they support a sing along movie that is open to the community for free and give job training to the DODD population.

nobody is perfect, the same goes for institutions. This museum is nice but....the staff are OK, not exceptional; the art/collection/exhibitions are OK, not comprehensive or exceptional in most cases, and can't compare to say that at Cleveland or Cincinnati. In a nutshell, it is a nice local art museum, with a good historic building and an interesting educational space, but not more than that. If you are a Columbus resident and you are passionate about art, this is ok but not anything approaching excellent as the others reviews suggest.

I first started volunteering with Global Gallery over 4 years ago. The fist time I set foot into the door, I grabbed a volunteer application. The store had a "spirit" that moved me. The staff was friendly, I loved the art pieces, and I felt truly the organization was inviting me to be a part of it. So, I joined and have been with Global Gallery ever since. This organization is special in the community, not only with its mission, but with the experience it can provide for others. It has given me a purpose in this city and in my life.

I applied to Side Hustle Syndicate a while ago (this past year) through their official inquiry form, hoping for support in restarting my art practice after a long and difficult creative pause brought on by the pandemic. Unfortunately, I never received a reply—not even an acknowledgment that my application had been seen.<br><br>Since then, I’ve discovered that the grant's creator has not posted updates or engaged with the community since 2022. After some further digging, I learned that the program is run solely by one individual, not a review committee. This means that any decisions made—whether to support, ignore, or deny an applicant—can be heavily influenced by personal bias without oversight.<br><br>In my case, I believe a personal history with the grant provider influenced their silence. There was no transparency, no communication, and no recourse for fair review. That lack of accountability is harmful, especially to creators reaching out in good faith for support and community connection.<br><br>If Side Hustle Syndicate is still active, I hope it will consider implementing a more inclusive and transparent review process. I called the Ohio Citizens for the Arts seeking information about the economic impact of the arts in Ohio. The lady I spoke with gave me a wealth of information, sent me information by email, and followed up with a packet of information by US mail. WOW ... I was impressed.
