Prior 2 becoming an advocate 4 the rights of the disabled, I advocated 4 equestrian rights which is what led 2 our first Search & Rescue Mission. Thereafter, my significant other became disabled from a traumatic brain injury caused by falling from a horse. That's when I quickly learned how ADA unfriendly & how out of compliance many local businesses are when it comes to the rights of the disabled, those who are indigent, and our veterans. How sad that someone would anonymously post a retaliatory, false, and defamatory narrative about my perfectly legal right to criticize and expose local corruption and incompetence that's separate and apart from the work that I do as a founding member, board member, & dedicated volunteer of this nonprofit! I'm willing to sit down with the author of this fake review 2 prove the allegations false & then I would invite the author 2 compensate our non-profit in the amount of 100,000 4 the defamation that was posted!

The rescue owner bought a property in Bakersfield with community funds and has been illegally collecting funds for such without being registered with the Attorney General. She has not filed taxes so no one knows where the money is going. <br>The said property has been the same for 2 years, no upgrades whatsoever. The dogs sit out in the heat with very few shade covers. This is cruelty and fraud.

Soon after Portrait Of A Warrior Gallery opened I was privileged to be with the Bakersfield Southeast Asia vets on a tour. I was amazed at what was going on honoring our fallen and a place for veterans and family members can come and hang out. I was so enthused that as soon as I could see, some light in my schedule that I joined as a docent at the gallery now I help facilitate a faith base class for those that suffer from PTSD symptoms. Poor Veteran just wondering what he could do. There’s a lot of opportunities that rise.

My daughter has been attending MARE for several years it has really made an impact in her quality of life the staff & volunteers are always professional caring and supportive we are lucky to be part of the MARE community

I was 5 months pregnant and in rehab when I came in contact with Apple Core. I went through a series of nutritional classes that changed my eating for the better, 40years old and the healthiest pregnancy you can imagine! I was made team captain at Grace Street Garden, boosting confidence and giving me great coping skills as I navigated new motherhood and early sobriety. Apple Core project found some great baby gear for me that I couldn’t otherwise afford. After successfully graduating from rehab, Apple Core Project came through once again with a job at the Farmers Market. I worked there every Saturday for a year, building confidence and community and supplementing my income. I am still actively involved with Apple Core Project, encouraging new women in the rehab to come out to Grace Street Garden. Watching the confidence getting involved in the garden community builds is inspiring. My son is growing up learning to garden, eat healthy, and help others.

I am an avid pet lover who brought two very needy people who do not drive to Pet Food Pantry. I had been bringing them all of last year. They were required to renew again this year. After waiting in line in the rain with them for two hours, both were banned from receiving any food because one has dementia and cannot remember her cats names and one added cats because her cat had kittens. Both of these people are on fixed incomes and handicapped. A short haired heavier lady who manages the pantry cut them off. I hope some day she is old and is denied help so she knows what it feels like.<br><br>THIS IS AN ORGANIZATION I HAVE SUPPORTED IN THE PAST BUT WILL NO LONGER DONATE TO. <br><br><br>

Kern county administration has "no funds" to relocate citizens who are displaced by government projects. Instead of applying for nationally eligible priority funding, it offers "housing referrals" to Flood Ministries homeless shelter in Bakersfield, CA. Why? Because it's convenient and already paid for. <br> <br>If HUD provided oversight, I would not be so vocal about it. Citizens civil rights to fair housing are being outcompeted by non-profit self-interests for the same federal funding awards. <br> <br>Flood's last IRS spent approx. $1.8 million out of $2 million on employee salaries and expenses. Its revenue is doubling every year. If I had access to justice, I would not be so vocal about unjust enrichment and unfair business practices. But national security is important enough to say something when I see it. <br> <br>The cost of this non-profit does not justify the means. I challenge all men and women of faith to assess beyond good intentions the motives of generosity. <br> <br>There is no such thing as non-profit. <br> <br>Thank you.

My husband first experienced confusion and loss of memory in March of 2000 while undergoing rehab for alcoholism. Being home seemed to help him until 2006 when he gradually began experiencing Alzheimer’s symptoms. He had four to five hours a day where he wants to get a "greyhound" to "go home." Also, he thinks I am his sister and believes he has rented a car (he hasn't driven in five to 10 years). His personal hygiene was in the tank — it was necessary for him to change two to three times a day. My wife started volunteering at Be Finally Free 5 years ago. She had been praising all of the work they do. I decided to see for myself by volunteering to help out with their community events. I was impressed to see how much this organization cares for the people who society has given up on. I have seen first hand how they are willing to help my brother who has fallen into trouble. They live out the scripture that says leave the 99 to go after the one sheep who has strayed away.

Kern Bridges Youth Homes, Inc. (KBYH) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe, stable, and consistent environment for children ages 0-21 years old. We offer continuous training, support, and encouragement to our Resource Families to ensure they are equipped to take on the challenging situations which may occur.<br><br>KBYH seeks to provide short-term, long-term, and in some cases adoptive homes to match the various needs of children in our care.<br><br>Children needing placement include; Boys and girls, infants to twenty-one years old, sibling groups, children with developmental, medical, and behavioral needs, children needing an adoptive home, and mentor parents for emancipated foster your ages 18-21.

It's been so amazing to be a part of the Love Box Program. Getting to know the kids in care and the foster families that bring them in is such a blessing. Walking along side them on this journey has been a growing and learning experience for all of us!

Our poodle has been missing since 7/27/2020, we have been nonstop looking for her,pawboost,flyers,nextdoor,Bakersfield animal shelters,we are new to the area. We will never stop looking for our beloved family girl♥️

I haven't donated, but I am planning to. This is the only LGBTQIA+ charity in Bakersfield and that in itself is a great accomplishment

I have been on the board of directors of Covenant for the last few years. I am always amazed at the stories from the young men and women who no longer qualified for foster care and would have been left in the cold dark world but for Covenant. They had no job training, usually had not finished high school, had no training on money management , had no job skills and no place to call home. Had Covenant not been there to give them encouragement and hope they would have in most instances become common statistics of crime, drug addiction, teen pregnancy, gang members and outcasts of society. Instead they are loved, trained, encouraged to pursue their education and helped financially so they can become productive citizens. The individual stories bring you to tears to hear how they were many times abused in the foster care system and finally just gave up, without hope that someone would truly love and care for them. Enter Covenant and their staff who truly care for and give these young adults hope for the future. The vision and reality is they train them in various pursuits including food preparation, coffee service and roasting, customer skills, and help provide housing at a low cost, train them to be good stewards in their finances and assist them with educational pursuits. They interact with at least 150 of these at risk young people monthly and intend to increase that number as time and finances allow. Covenant is an organization that is working where the rubber meets the road and is successfully meeting one of the greatest needs in our society, catching the foster children after they are given the boot from the foster system.

Dr. Murphy is an outstanding person! Her love and care of her clients/patients is unbelievable. She went above and beyond to set our son on the road to recover. He had no money or way to get off the streets ,but she worked with him , us and other outreaches to make it happen. Dr. Murphy is a God loving woman who believes in giving her all to everyone who walks through her doors! The staff is amazing and caring. The coalition offers everything one would need to improve your life status.<br>I would highly recommend for everyone to donate to this nonprofit.<br>

Awesome work done by Friends of K.C. Animal Shelters Foundation. They do not rescues animals but their work also saves lives. They donate equipment, supplies and funds to animal shelters in Kern County. Yes, the County of Kern does fund local shelters but the money our shelters receive doesn't always meet their needs. Friends Foundation has provided money to purchase vaccines and chip readers for local shelters; items that most people think the shelters could purchase on their own. Friends Foundation endeavors to help shelter staff and therefore the animals in the shelter so that all avenues are open to find forever homes for shelter animals.

I have been donating to Kern Kiwanis Foundation for over a year; the foundation supports many programs and projects that support children throughout Kern County. The foundation pulls together individual donations to make a greater impact to the organizations it supports. Kern Kiwanis Foundation supports anything from team sports sponsorship for disadvantaged youth to programs for homeless youth. They also support organizations like Ronald McDonald House, Salvation Army, Richardson Children's Center, and many more. Great foundation.

My husband is a Veteran that has be hugely helped by this organization. Not only have they served him and helped us as a family in a really hard patch in our lives. They were able to genuinely help us move towards our future. We obtained his service dog, Sadie, through their training program! They have continuously given him guidance, acceptance and a sense of belonging that he needed again. Thank you!
