Few things are closer to my heart than strong families. Our world depends on them for so many of the good things in life. My Safe Harbor is that magical combination of great programs, committed staff and volunteers, a commitment to mission and true transformational outcomes. In a world that often seems to have lost its moorings, MSH is a connecting place that provides an anchor for safety, security and true hope for families to get stronger and make their community stronger.

I love when I donate to the Emma Zen Foundation that 100% of the money goes to help firefighters and animals! I have had the privilege of being both a donor and our department has also been a recipient in past years and this is a long term relationship with a charity that I treasure because it really makes a difference for the animals and is run by a terrific group of people!

I volunteered for a holiday event and the joy in the eyes of the seniors who have so little was strikingly evident and heart filling. I have attended several jazz events since then, and every time the residents gather very early so they do not miss a moment of the performances, which are always first-rate. The live music brings them alive. They live for these visits, which give meaning to their lives. The contribution of Compassionate Artists to the seniors they serve is priceless.

Do not go to this agency. I was treated horribly and was told that I ask the same questions over again, and that they would not continue my paperwork until i picked a child, and lastly they told me that the program that I requested it was not right but did not provide solid reasons for it , and advise me to programs that I did not qualify for me. This agency took my money and totally abandoned me.The two individuals who treated me poorly was the international program coordinator for colombia, and international program assistant for colombia. I found another agency and I am treated like a human being with feelings. run for the hills I am telling you before you get ripped off. oh and if I could rate the agency a zero I would.

I just attended the first optometry clinic in their new facility incredible more than 90 children had their eyes examined by volunteers from two optometry colleges and four doctors from. The USA and it included the 22 scholarship students they sponsored this school year band they have a second one scheduled for Nov 9 this is exciting

Many years ago when I learned about the work that The Eli Home was doing to help stop the cycle of abuse, I was eager to be a part of it in some way. During my teaching career, I observed too often how spousal and parental abuse disrupted students' efforts to get an education when they had to flee and hide to save their lives. It has been my pleasure to participate in a number of fundraising efforts where I could volunteer my time, talents, and money, as well as patronize the Eli Store. My greatest joy has been hearing the success stories of the parents and children who with Eli's help have gained the confidence, self-esteem, and skills to pursue their goals and create the lives of joy they deserve.~Flora M. Me and my daughter had to flee Ukraine due to the war. We came to USA and were looking for any help. I was writing to many organizations but only Uplift responded and really helped us. We are so grateful for their support and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of assistance.

My Day Counts has really impressed me with how they were able to change their service delivery model during the 2020 pandemic so that participants were able to access important programs and services remotely. My friend's son would have really been lost had he not been able to see his My Day Counts friends during the last year. One thing that really has impressed me is the number of participants taking college courses and/or getting their high school diplomas. I know many of these individuals were told that college would never be an option for them - yet here they are working hard and taking college courses. Lastly, the independent living skills classes are of particular importance to me. I know that many families keep their participants at home for decades. I was happy to see that My Day Counts is willing to teach participants (even if it takes years) independent living skills. The more we support and empower these individuals to overcome barriers to the community and living independently, the more they can enjoy life. All in all, I think My Day Counts is doing great work! Keep it up!!

This is a fantastic non-profit shelter to be a part of! Very wholistic approach to helping moms and children recover from domestic violence and/or homelessness. Leaves a lasting impact on those who walk through its doors and is working hard to raise awareness about violence in the home.

If there ever was any organization that holds so true to its’ mission statement, it’s Grandma’s House of Hope. It truly does provide compassionate and uplifting care for women in crisis and it truly does feed the bodies and souls of many hungry children in Orange County. Je’net the Executive Director and Founder of GHH is such an amazingly talented and incredibly loving individual. Her open honesty and the real connection she has with each client and all the staff allows Grandma’s House to be the inspirational organization that it is. <br>I am an Americorps VISTA volunteering here for the 2013-2014 year and I have been blown away by the unconditional love that everyone on staff has been able to lavish upon the people we serve. They are driven by their cause incredibly capable in the life changing work that they do. I feel so blessed to be able to serve with them this year. <br>

The Foster Care Auxiliary has had a huge impact in my family. We took in three children from the foster care system to join our already large family. When we needed help with clothes, household items and a stroller the Foster Care Auxiliary was there for us. But the biggest part was the emotional support we felt from the group. We had so many questions and concerns as to what we should be doing to better help the children in our care. Every step of the way the Foster Care auxiliary has been there for us as we built a forever family for the special chi;ldren in our home.

Meals on Wheels California is an amazing resource for agencies big and small throughout all of California who serve food insecure seniors…our strongest asset!!!!

One of my colleagues introduced me to this incredible organization a couple of years ago. Because I have always enjoyed high school/ youth students, I was eager to volunteer if I could fit it into my work schedule. The first time, I went, I was paired up with an experienced volunteer, and we stepped into a classroom to tell our story, how we got to where we are, and encouraged the kids to finish high school, and set their goals high, dream big, and know that it's okay if they change their minds along the way. Even though I couldn't relate to their background, because many of the students are living in socio-economically challenged areas, they still connected to my story of failing and making mistakes along the way, but ultimately being able to arrive in a career field where I am happy and fulfilled. I strongly encourage anyone in any field to come back and serve their community in this rewarding way.

The Christian Latino Association of Music & Arts (CLAMA) and RYTMO (Reaching Youth Through Music Opportunities) have experience a steady growth since we started in 2003. Despite the many fiscal challenges that most non-profits are facing today, we continue to see the community and especially teens in our community in need of programs that can connect and relate to the needs of this generation. Since 2003, we have serviced and successfully graduated over 500 youth from RYTMO. In 2009, CLAMA was awarded the Non Profit of the Year for the City of Anaheim, and in 2010 formed a formal partnership with the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Students now have access to online classes through RYTMO!. Looking ahead, we have plans to expand our facility and programs to include video/multimedia production, video gaming, live sound, and launch Voice & Sound, a unique program created to reach young women ages 14 through 24 years utilizing songwriting and singing in building a healthy self-esteem. <br>For more information, please visit: www. rytmo.org. <br>

Chef Bruno Serato, who started Caterina's Club to feed motel children, is a CNN hero. Caterina's Club serves 5,500 meals a day (and increasing) and has served over 8 million meals. It also has a Hospitality Academy, which trains at risk teenagers skills to work in the restaurant industry. Another service Caterina's Club provides is helping move families out of the motels and into apartments.

Mehira's Story... <br> <br>I was working with a client in an unincorporated part of La Puente, CA.. as a caregiver, twice a week. well, i would notice this unusual breed of dog, What was a beautiful striking Blue Merle Cattle Dog doing in this particular neighborhood. Evidently these people could not appreciate this beautiful , intelligent breed of dog.. she was always sleeping or curled up on the curb or in a driveway of two different houses. she was thin and saw her trying to play with other dogs from the outside of the fence...I inquired about her, the story goes, her family moved out, and she was no more than about 6 months old, when her family left her behind and that was 5 years ago...she has had to fend for herself and learn quickly her swift getaways and craftiness. a couple of families did take turns feeding her, but, the sad part not one ever offered her a warm or cool place to stay, so she wondered... well, needless to say, i just could not see her without a caring family.. I inquired helpingherdersrescue,.org, Linda recommended a trapper. Mr. noon.. and walllah!!! she was caught and home free, safe and very well cared for and she had +5.. looking forward to very happy ending..

I had the pleasure of being a 1 on 1 aide to a student who was attending Hi-hopes , while being there I saw a lot of dedicated individuals who were working with students with disabilities and making sure they were in classes that allowed them to learn new skills and also improve previously learned skills, there was something for everyone who attended and nobody was left out. It was an amazing place to watch students grow and develop while they were there. The staff and everyone involved made sure you felt welcome and that all the students needs were being met.

Very good organization. Really helps to find housing, clothing, and jobs.

I have been doing some consulting work for the Eddie Nash Foundation over the last year, and have never been more impressed with an organizations' passion and fervor for making a difference. Their compassion for foster kids and those who are approaching emancipation is without bounds. This is a frightening time for foster youth, as they often are abandoned and left to their own resources without any support network. The Eddie Nash Foundation steps in and fills the gap - providing them with life skills training, homework assistance, mentoring, and help in gathering crucial documentation they need for life like a driver's license, social security card, and school transcripts. Their founder, Bryan Nash, is a former foster youth, and believes so strongly in their mission that he takes no salary for his position as Executive Director - I have NEVER seen that in the non-profit arena.
