This is a fantastic no -kill shelter for cats and kittens that goes way beyond what you could expect.
I manage a small 19 room inn and we fed and care for 4 once-stray cats. A 5th showed up one day, and I started feeding him, too. He came everyday but I started to notice there was something wrong with his eyes- but he generally kept his head down so I couldn't really see what was wrong.
I called For Love of Cats and they came right over and humanely trapped him and brought him back to the shelter. It turned out that he was about 15 years old and his eyelashes had turned into his eyes and were scraping his corneas- it was very painful. I know our local humane society or Domestic Animal services would have put this beautiful sweet cat down immediately. But Jan and Jim rich spent a small fortune having his eyes operated on so he was no longer in pain, and then taking care of his abscessed tooth, and treating his overactive thyroid. They didn't expect anyone would adopt a 15 year-old cat so they decided to make him the official shelter cat and let him live out his remaining years in comfort and safety. As things turned out, one of their volunteers fell in love with him and adopted him. This shelter will do nearly anything and everything possible to help the cats and kittens on our island. I cannot say enough about them!
