The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
People getting involved and people appreciating what we do
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
do just as I have said in the other comments in this review
More feedback...
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
hands on work in the trenches with good people
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Awesome people - love warriors
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Be ruined - the entire spirit and purpose of it would be defeated by having that kind of money. Service is just that - service. You don't get paid, and shouldn't get paid, to do service work. Choose a job that is inspiring and/or somehow meaningful, but save these powerful and inspiring means of building up service and community from the money pit. This is about hope, community, inner cultivation and happiness not money.
Ways to make it better...
1) We did more hands on work, less talking and brainstorming about it 2) I like it if we let P.R. come as the work gets done, not to get recognition when only a few hours per month of volunteer work are happening. P.R. will come in its time and place, P.R. is crucial to inspire social change, but let's do the good work too. 3) Openness to the people present - the only people needed for the board of directors, activities directors, etc.... are right there in the meeting. I see that AGI has made great progress in this direction now, and I am very excited about that I know AGI is growing and maturing into an organic community and service focused group, and it has the potential to be a huge thing in SF transformation for service and community, giving people actual opportunities to serve, as well as inspiration to do so.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
The allure of recognition and money and the amount of time that can be spent on recognition and money when it is really supposed to be about actual physical work being done in the community to bring people together in hope and service
One thing I'd also say is that...
Keep up the good work, and don't ever heed anyone who suggests that it doesn't matter, or who doubts. EVery good thing we do in this world, in this life, matters.
