the saturday light brigade radio productions are located in the sweetest space i've ever seen. within the children's museum, surrounded by colors, lights, and laughter, there is an awesome opportunity for kids to explore the various aspects of media through different avenues of hands on learning.

Reading Is FUNdamental Pittsburgh

Cindy Krappweis, the Executive Director of Reading is FUNdamental Pittsburgh, has incredible energy. She exudes this natural light that I can only imagine is a strong motivator for engaging children in the excitement and importance of reading. The programs offered that actively incorporates parent involvement in reading with their children provide great opportunity to foster a life-long love for learning.

Coro Center for Civic Leadership

As a current Coro Fellow with the Coro Center for Civic Leadership, I have gained extensive insight into the inner-workings of government and important socio-economic concerns facing the City and the region. Through this program and its depth AND breadth of important connections, I have experienced significant local interactions over the past 2 months that most local people my age couldn't dream of having their entire lives. It is so humbling to observe the tangible impact a Fellow can have on a city facing economic distress. Coming from the west coast, I cannot imagine a more welcome space for such an empowering experience.

the caliber of Coro alum and the impact they are making on the City. SO IMPRESSIVE!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

make policies more clear, especially in regards to time off.

the challenge of being groomed for effective leadership.

capable, incredibly intelligent and socially conscious.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

afford to financially support its Fellows. Stipends (for room + board) are oftentimes only enough to cover rent.

Ways to make it better...

the Center could afford better tech capabilities. Considering the level of work required with the Fellows program, there should be current if not advanced computer/Internet software.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

diverse recruitment. There should be greater efforts to reach out to a wider range of people. I would not have heard about this program had I not been related to a St. Louis Coro alum, despite the 2 program locations in California.

One thing I'd also say is that...

business attire depicts authority but it is EXPENSIVE, especially if it requires alterations and dry-cleaning. Perhaps Fellows should apply for food stamps.
