Amy R. is the Queen of Scare Mail. My father receives 5-15 letters from them per day under four different names (maybe more I hadn't realized the association). He started giving to them in 2009 and gave them thousands of dollars little by little. When I found out he was spending all his money, I started tracking his junk mail and putting him on a charity budget. He said he'd hope that the things they were fighting for would be over in 6 months or so. What a laugh. I sent their letters to the State of Utah Consumer Protection, who opened an investigation because of the misrepresentations in the mailings. They've come to a settlement to give my father's money back. Unfortunately, my father isn't the only victim. See article at http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/e/a/1998/02/08/NEWS3642.dtl
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
They've bankrupted my elderly father.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Not use misrepresentations in mailings, and not send out so much junk mail.
More feedback
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
NONE!
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
No personal contact, just financial statements of the large amount of money they receive.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
They do have that much money, and they are spending it on the President and Vice President--husband and wife.
Ways to make it better...
They didn't bombard my father with 10 letters per day of junk mail per person saying they need money urgently. If they needed money so much, why don't the cut down on the junk mail.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Children of the elderly who find out what they are doing.
One thing I'd also say is that...
They are Parasites feeding off the elderly!
When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
2010
MY ROLE:
General Member of the Public & I'm helping my father get off their mailing lists--at least we are trying to no avail.
