This charity squeezes value out of every dollar or item donated and every person who volunteers. I have participated in several of their activities and have seen no waste or padding on the part of the directors. Their preschools are modern and as well equipped as their funds allow, and each child gets nutritious
food each day. They provide food baskets at various holiday times, with volunteers filling the baskets destined for needy families. They make sure hundreds of students have what they need to attend school, such as supplies, backpacks and shoes. They take the time to screen each recipient of their charity so that the help given matches the need. It is an outstanding operation!

This charity really walks the walk. Dwight, Sharon and Patti, who run the charity are onsite, listen to people's requests and never turn anyone away from the doors of their facility. In this impoverished country, the needs are huge, but Mayan Families does yeoman duty in addressing as many needs as they possibly can. In one day, I have seen them give shoes to a child who has none, chaperone a group of doctors doing a medical clinic, take in a stray dog, and drive a load of donated books to a school, and supervise a feeding program. That level of activity goes on day after day. They are tireless and selfless in their mission to make the lives of Guatemalan families better.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Getting unused Spanish language books in U.S. storerooms to schools in Guatemala
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Give them more help.
