Udayan Care
October 9, 2009

In working with Udayan Care on a daily basis as from December 2004 I have come to admire the staff and the students of this organization. The quality is in the mix of commitment, persistence, discipline and mutual respect from both staff and children. while recapitulating the last 4 years, the elements that make me classify Udayan Care as a first class organization are: 1) The ability of the chair person to transfer her personal passionate commitment into repeatable business processes; 2) Udayan Care delivers stable, confident, intelligently curious, skillful personalities who grow on the consequences of their decisions, in spite of starting with children without any basis in health, safety, affiliation, esteem; 3) The ability to think scale without ever compromising full commitment to the little personalities; 4) The ability to understand and mitigate risk involved in sending developed children into the world out there. 5) Continuous pressure on exceeding achievements in delivering financially auditable figures - in India; 6) Relationship management resulting in retention of sponsors and other types of support; 7) Successfully fighting bureaucracy in a growing organization, in particular, in India, is an achievement; 8) Repeatability, quality, affordability, reliability; 9) The ability to let go if things do not work out well. I would recommend this organization to anyone, even my own children if needed.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Realizing the project Sugam Vedashram in which Udayan Care had a pivotal role, and many visits UC's premises and children.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Strengthen the legal/accounting skills. Increase exposure to sponsors & federal education budgets. Increase children's international exposure for the benefit of both sides. Place more emphasis on succession management. Grow alliances in a wide scope.

More feedback

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Seeing the results, which surpass the results and efficiency of far larger organizations.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

A mix of the world's inhabitants. UC makes these common people do common things uncommonly good, resulting quality and personal growth. Among the staff and volunteers are 'graduated' UC children.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Continue its controlled growth without compromising quality and integrity.

Ways to make it better...

If the distance were less. If India would be less corrupt. If it was not confirmed that charity is a magnet to corruption and unskilled idealists.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Quality control in a growing organisation, in particular, because the result of UC's work is only proved after the childeren have flown out to build their own lives. Acquisition of budget; good people are attracted anyway.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
