This organization was indeed a "grass roots" organization., The volunteers who wanted to help the park put up their own mney in 1997 to get the non-profit started and the first year raised $12,000. Since then it has grown to a 6 figure budget with an exceptionally able Excutive Director. All the work ,except for the ED, is done by volunteers and that provides the good feeling of ownership and personal belief in the value of the park. The park is located just a few miles from the urban city and the people of the area fight diligently to keep it "wild and wonderful ".
