The chapter at my school has brought numerous speakers from all over the country who encourage us not only to be active participants in the political process but to use our knowledge to help those in the community and the nation at large.
The most obvious example I have of this is when my chapter and chapters around the nation went to schools in our communities and, using a curriculum outline provided by the national chapter, spent the day teaching classes on Constitutional rights to elementary and middle school aged children.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have seen the results of this organization in the attitude of the students here who are encouraged by the dialogue that ACS fosters; the students who don't see someone championing their views on the evening news. I have seen the results of this organization in the determination of its student and lawyer chapters who both strive for the goals of ACS like genuine equality, knowledge of the Constitution and access to justice.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would not change anything about this organization. It's policy of remaining politically neutral and inclusive seems to be the best approach and I know from experience that it appeals to a wide segment of the community.
Would you volunteer for this group again?
For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?
Did the organization use your time wisely?
Would you recommend this group to a friend?
What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?
I would not change anything. I was thoroughly satisfied in my volunteer experience.
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
I have met so many new and interesting people not only in my area but across the nation through my work with ACS and it has encouraged in me a leadership that I didn't know I had.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
It made me feel like I was doing something productive and meaningful with my time. It made me feel more included in a larger national community.
When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
