My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for America World Adoption Association, McLean, VA, USA
Our experience with America World has been positive and we would definitely recommend the AWAA Ethiopia program. We have seen a high level of caring for orphans and a genuine heart to help these children to find the best homes for them. October 9th, 2006, we began our journey by applying to America World's Ethiopia program. We traveled home on January 23, 2008 with our two cuties. Throughout the process we were very satisfied with the communication we received from America World and their availability to answer any questions we had. All of the costs for the adoption were outlined and presented up front. We found that their estimate was very close to the final cost. After bringing our children home, I would say without a doubt that not only are we happy with our decision to adopt from Ethiopia through AWAA, but also we may be thinking about doing so again in the future.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
our process of adopting two children from Ethiopia. We interacted with both their American staff and their Ethiopian staff.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
encourage the agency to give perspective adoptive parents as much information as possible before they need that information. I like having all of the information about the next step prior to completing the current step in the process. This was not how AWAA functioned while we were adopting and was difficult. This is quite possibly just a personal preference and we would still recommend other families adopt through AWAA.
