As an educational consultant who works with non-profits around the Cleveland area, I have been consistently impressed with Unviersity Settlement for several reasons: 1) They truly embody a community-based organization that meets felt needs of the neighborhood with well defined programs that deliver what they promise, like their afterschool tutoring program. 2) They understand the importance and commitment of collaborating with other types of organizations to make sure their clients needs are fully met, like their partnership with Applewood Centers. 3) They have strong management and organizational structure to administer a variety of programs with complex funding streams.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Partnering to provide volunteer-based literacy services.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Expand their physical capacity: put all their programs under one roof.
