Review for American Cancer Society Foundation, Atlanta, GA, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I am a 5-year Breast Cancer survivor. I have been involved with the American Cancer Society as a volunteer for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and also as a team captain and Committee Chair (Survivor Chair) for 5 years. The ACS has been a huge blessing in my life. I benefited first hand from their program "Look Better - Feel Good" when I was going through chemo and losing my hair. This program really helped my self image during this difficult period of time in my life. The American Cancer Society also has various programs to help cancer patients in obtaining rides to their chemo treatments and radiation treatments which is a god send! God Bless the American Cancer Society, its dedicated and hard working staff members and all the volunteers. Together we can fight back and find a cure for cancer!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

being able to reach out to my community and help cancer patients and cancer survivors.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very positive, hard working, dedicated and caring individuals. Very "stand up" people!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

use it for cancer research and be one step closer to finding a cure for cancer.

Ways to make it better...

I had gotten involved earlier and spoken up and became a more active advocate against the fight against cancer.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

reaching out to more people and recruiting volunteers.

One thing I'd also say is that...

this organization has been a blessing in my life.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

Role:  Volunteer & I have been a Team Captain for the Making Strides Against Cancer Walk and also a Team Captain and Committee Member (Survivor Chair) for the Relay for Life for the past five years.
