MOMS CLOSET RESOURCE CENTER INC
March 22, 2011

What a blessing Mom's Closet has been to single mom's in our area. On the front of our brochure it says...Changing the future of Kentucky's kids one mom at a time....I have watched over the past seven to eight years the lives that have been changed due to the assistance these moms receive from the center. They are taught about accountability, but with love. They receive assistance where they run short each month, either by assisting with utilities, gasoline, or even just trips to the food pantry. When these mom's become a part of the Life Plan at MCRC, they become part of our family. We help with Thanksgiving, Christmas, back to school. Any of those "extras" that can throw someone off track, and, sometimes it seems like you can't get a break to get back on track. We have seen so many success stories as these women graduate and move on to get good jobs to be able to continue to support their families. And we haven't even begun to talk about the difference it makes in the lives of these kids. To be able to have some of the basics that we take for granted, and to get a little extra every now and then. Simply amazing! Sheila always says...we are not a hand out, we are a hand up!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the blessing I receive in hearing the story of these ladies whose lives are changed because they had the assistance they needed to be able to work, while bettering themselves by going to school, to be able to get a better job to support their families. It is awesome to see the support that Mom's Closet can give to these women and their children.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find a way to get the word out and bring in additional volunteers. Sometimes what we end up doing is so "last minute". Not for lack of planning, but because of the opportunities that arise. God is good. But because of this, we usually need help, and right away. We don't seem to have a big enough pool of volunteers to work with for these last minute opportunities.

MY ROLE:
Board Member & I assist in all areas of planning for Mom's Closet. I help organize our Board, assist in various events to help fund raise to provide funds needed to support the single moms while they work and go to school.
