United Way - and in particular, the Young Leaders' Society has provided me the opportunity to step outside the ordinary giving process. In the past, as is tradition, I gave at the office. When a slot to help organize the office campaign opened up, I decided to advocate to our newer team members. Now, on the Steering Committe for Young Leaders Society for my local United Way, I have been granted the opportunity to volunteer. I've found out in an organic way, that it's not just a slogan on a billboard. And when I meet folks whose lives are uplifited and transformed, not only because they received the highly important services UWAY has to offer, but also others who are transformed and uplifted by giving, advocating and volunteering, I realize that what I'm doing with my time is really making a difference.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

By meeting and working with serverly and profoundly disabled children at a group home that is a United Way partner agency - I realized how Uited Way programs and support make such a difference in their quality of life.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Increase awareness and training for givers on how their choices impact the services available locally (choosing the general fund versus allocating to favorite partner agencies, for instance).

Volunteer & I help recruit young philanthropists to give, advocate and volunteer at a leadership level through YLS.
