212 Art Center has made art easily accessible in a small community. Whether taking a class, seeing an exhibition of work, or purchasing member work at the Holiday Sale there is no need to travel outside the area. The support they give independant artists on Friday's with the Cake Eaters sessions is extraordiinary, "making" the solitary creators commune with other artists and challenge them for projects often outside of their "comfort zone". Although only a part-time artist, this keeps my mind working.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The enthusiasm at 212 spurs me on to keep creating and makes me know how important it is to support artists by volunteering to organize and promote art shows.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would give them more space fo accomplish their mission and would get them professional consultatons on publicity and promotion so that they can do a better job "telling their story" to get the publicity they deserve.
Volunteer & I have helped them get involved with the Saline Downtown Merchants Association to make their organization better known.
