My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Animalkind, Inc., Raleigh, NC, USA
I have volunteered with AnimalKind since 1998. I started serving on the board in 2010. I've watched AnimalKind grow in response to the needs of the animal community. It wasn't long after AnimalKind started THE $20 Fix program that I noticed more and more people were familiar with AnimalKind and the importance of its mission. By providing targeted low-cost spay and neuter vouchers, THE $20 FIX directly started saving lives while at the same time indirectly educating the community in general and the rescue community in specific on the importance of preventing pet overpopulation before thousands of homeless pets end up in shelters facing euthanasia. I've seen the understanding and emphasis begin to shift from sheltering to addressing the issue at its origin. Other non-profits as well as municipal animal services now turn to AnimalKind to gain understanding and focus. I am proud of and grateful for the work of AnimalKind.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
When I was answering calls for AnimalKind, I was touched by the stories shared of how AnimalKind made it possible for families to keep and care for their pets. A single mom who was struggling to make ends meet. An elderly woman living with her cats on a fixed income but wanting to be able to care for her feline companions.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
The only improvement I could see is having the funds to take low-cost spay and neuter statewide allowing the numbers to turn so that euthanasia isn't the standard method of addressing pet overpopulation.
