GREYHOUND ADOPTION LEAGUE OF TEXAS INC
January 9, 2012

I became involved with GALT about 10 years ago by adopting their first greyhound, Apollo. Apollo was rescued from the McKinney animal control facility by GALT. Every dog from Apollo to over 2000 additional greyhounds that have been adopted through GALT have gone through an extensive medical exam. If ill they are treated for anything from a scratch to a broken leg to Cancer until healthy before they are up for adoption. GALT has the vision and policy focused upon the promise that "No grey will be turned away" and to my knowledge over the last 10 years this has been a reality. We are all volunteers and raise over $250K a year to make sure we can deliver on our promise. I hope you will consider us the next time you are looking for a marvelous companion as an addition to your family of providing a donation to a greyt nonprofit serving Texas.

GREYHOUND ADOPTION LEAGUE OF TEXAS INC
February 23, 2011

My goodness what a Greyt organization. I was lucky enough to adopt one of the most loving large boys from them. At the time of adoption no one knew for sure what his name was or where he had come from originally. He was a stray. GALT called him Apollo and we called him Magellan through the rest of his life. We gave him that name because he came from far and no one knew where for sure and ended up in the pound in McKinney where GALT found him. He was GALT's dog number 2 and the first adoption for GALT. He was the first of a total of a series of 5 greyhound adoptions we have completed with GALT. I wish they could all live forever but we only have three that have not passed over the Rainbow Bridge to a better place.

Anytime that we have had questions about treatment by our Vet, help with understanding some of the idiosyncrasies associated with Greyhound racers, or just to muse about the Greyhound's uniqueness, GALT has always been there. I only wish we could find a way to allow for GALT to build a permanent facility that would allow for lure coursing, adoption center, and kennel for processing dogs before they go to either their forever home or foster parents.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Greyhound adoption and greyhound care.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Try to help them build a permanent home.

MY ROLE:
Volunteer & I help with transportation of dogs that either come to us from another location or need to be transferred to another location.
