My experience with Akilah has been amazing. I find all the young women who make Akilah happen to be genuinely and pasionately connected to their work. After meeting some students, you can see why. Akilah has found some amazing gems of the earth and is polishing them, preparing them to make a new life for their own people. The impacts being made in the women's lives are profound. Each young lady receives her training on a full scholarship, something offered no where else.
I also know that Akilah's operations are as cost-efficient as possible. Their events are primarily volunteer-staffed and have even embarked upon soliciting library donations to keep the cost of books down. They have gone above and beyond in acquiring grants and workers for the infastructure.
These efforts are solely so that donations go directly to students' scholarships, and less to overhead. I am impressed by everything Akilah is doing and am proud to volunteer for them.
