Review for Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency, Pontiac, MI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

OLHSA does a fine service in Livingston County, providing help with heating costs, helping low income people find housing, and counseling services. The staff there go above and beyond to help people. The Walk for Warmth gets bigger each year and brings in more money to help people. They have helped many people obtain weatherization services in this bad economy.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have known people who have received tremendous help from the staff there who truly care about people in need.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Do more advocacy with the government to ensure its continued funding and try to get more funding.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2011

What is unique about this organization?

It is large enough to do a lot of good but personal enough to care.

Role:  Professional with expertise in this field & I have given donations to them.

OLHSA provides a great service to the community, providing clothing for people in need, food, heating funds, administers the weatherization program for Obama, and works tirelessly to help those in need. They are very active in the community and well-respected. They help hundreds of low income people in the community.

We received approval for the weatherization program. Staff members made every effort to help us.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get a volunteer to call the churches and get all of them involved. It is hard to criticize this organization because they are doing their best.

Role:  Volunteer & I staffed a booth and collected recyclables for Walk for Warmth.
