SADDLE UP RIDING CLUB INC
February 16, 2011
I have been a volunteer at Saddle Up Riding Club for over a year, and during that time I have witnessed the joy that horse therapy can bring to adults and children with various disabilities. The rocking motion of the horse offers many benefits to our riders which include increased balance, muscle development, increased self confidence, independence, and cognitive skills development. Our special equestrians compete at Challenge events, and earn ribbons for their participation. Our Executive Director, Kellie Sipos is a certified NAHRA (North American Handicap Riders Association) instructor and together with our other trainers and volunteers, create fun activities for our riders. No two lessons are ever the same and our riders look forward to each session. Riders progress at their own pace and each rider starts with two side walkers and a horse leader. As their skills progress, some are even riding completely independent. It brings a smile to my face to watch our riders overcome barriers and benefit from this special experience.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
helping our disabled riders become more independent, by giving positive reinforcement, and doing whatever it takes to keep the barn in order and our horses happy!
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
help to eliminate our financial struggles. I would love to hit the lottery and purchase our rented property so I could donate it to Saddle Up.
Volunteer & I volunteer as a horse leader and side walker. I also help at fundraiders.
