OPERATION GRATITUDE INC
June 24, 2011

My husband and I do volunteer work for Operation Gratitude and I have first hand experience on this great organization. They send thousands of care packages to our troops deployed overseas and have other wonderful services for wounded troop members here and also have a new program where they provide special buddies ( little stuffed animals ) to children of newly deployed troops. I am very fortunate to have met Carolyn Blashek the founder of Operation Gratitude. This woman is non-stop "I love our troops kind of gal". There is pretty much nothing she would not do to help them here or abroad. I cannot say enough about this organization. I think mental health is a very important part of our daily living and the uplifting results one gets when they receive one of Operation Gratitude's care packages filled with gifts, hand made items, cards and notes etc... certainly qualify's Operation Gratitude to be recognized as one of the top nonprofits to be considered for your great non profits health campaign program. This organization is responsible for sending in excess of 650 thousand care boxes to our deployed troops since inception. This helps boost their morale and lets them know we all love and appreciated them. If you have not already done so check out Operation Gratitude you will be impressed with all that they do. Sign up for their news letter and stay in touch. This organization gets a 5 star rating from my husband and I.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have seen lots of letters and pictures depicting the joy these care packages give our troops. I have met some of the troop members after they returned home from their deployment and heard how happy and grateful they are to have been included in the program that sends them care boxes.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would give them as much financial support as I could so they can continue to do all the wonderful work they do in the support of our troops

MY ROLE:
Volunteer & I made scarves and my husband and I also help out at the Armory with the sorting of donations and shipping of the care packages to our troops.

OPERATION GRATITUDE INC
February 9, 2011

I found out about Operation Gratitude in a news paper article in the fall of 2010 about their 98 year old knitter volunteer who has made and donated hundreds if not thousands of scarves for our troops over the years. At that moment, I decided I would also make some scarves to donate to our troop members. When my husband and I delivered the scarves at the Armory we were so impressed with this wonderful organisation that we decided to also become volunteers. We have been going as often as we can ever since. I am still making scarves and will continue to volunteer alongside my husband to help as much as we can with the care packages for your troop members for as long as we can. We are so privileged to have our troops volunteer to keep us safe and it is a pleasure to get an opportunity show our gratitude and send our best wishes for a safe return through Operation Gratitude and the efforts of Caroline Blazek and her staff of volunteers.

I have received e-mails from troop members who have received my scarves . In addition I have seen the results posted on the web site and they are all very impressive. I also had the privilege of meeting Sgt. Cowie who once was a recipient of a care package sent to her by Operation Gratitude. I have been present at several shipping events when thousands of care boxes are shipped in a single day. The positive impact of this great organization is huge and should be recognized in this contest.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Help them with a huge tent to store their pallets of donated goods during the rainy season so they would not have to hand cover each pallet with plastic sheeting.
