Review for Unity A Journey Of Hope, Vanderbilt, PA, USA
I am a board member with Unity, A Journey of Hope. I first came to find out about Unity when a friend's band was asked to help out with a fundraiser charity event for Unity. We attended the event, which was an all day music festival. The organization was very well put on and professional. I got to know the co-founders of the charity and became more interested in what they do for people, because I also work with Seniors in my day to day work. I started to volunteer with Unity, helping out as I could on wishes to be granted and I was hooked after going on my first "wish" as a volunteer. The smile that was brought to the face of a person with terminal cancer when they met their life long hero was just amazing. No words could describe the look in the eyes of the wish recipient as his life long dream was fulfilled by Unity. From that point on, I was hooked and also humbled that I was a part of this. Making a bright spot in the day of someone who is otherwise has nothing to look forward to except for misery, pain and eventual death. I became more active within the organization, helping as much as I could and decided to become a board member. The co-founders are simply amazing and selfless, giving all they have to keep Unity the upstanding organization that it is. We are now working from being a regional organization to becoming a national one. The volunteers and all involved with Unity are simply awesome, giving all of themselves and taking nothing in return. I am so proud to be working with this organization, as I have seen what joy it brings to an adult with failing health.
