The Women's Home
February 8, 2011
For many years I volunteered at The Women's Home to support the work of this extraordinary community. They provide a secure place to live, work training for their clients, educational facilities, guidance and the opportunity to grow in purpose, confidence and understanding. Clients sign an agreement to stay drug and alcohol free, are followed for 18 months after they have completed the 18 months of growing from a supervised living situation to their own apartment. Clients participate in classes that are educational, develop personal character and provide guidance for job interviews, office dress and positive attitude.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Talking with the women clients about their experiences and progress and attending the annual event where women spoke about their experiences in the program.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I am disappointed that our crafts group disbanded as we enjoyed our participation in raising funds. The program for the clients appears to work well and I see no big changes needed.
Volunteer & I joined the crafts group which made projects we sold at church and community fairs, raising substantial funds over 12 years.
