The AAQI is a wonderful organization that I am so happy to participate in. When my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's two and a half years ago, I felt helpless in doing anything to make him better. Watching someone you love struggle with Alzheimer's can be heartbreaking, and I know there is still a long road ahead. The AAQI has given me hope and a way to make a difference one small quilt at a time. Quilting is therapeutic and I feel even better knowing that my quilts can be sold to raise money for Alzheimer's research. Seeing all of the beautiful quilts that others have donated fills me with amazement and encouragement, but it also makes me sad that so many of those people have also been affected by the disease in some way. Despite being in a different state, I feel very connected to the organization because everything is run by people who are committed to the cause and who will send personal responses instead of automated ones. I like that they allow you to see exactly where the money is going and how it is helping.
