My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for National Council On Economic Education Dba Council For Economic Education, New York, NY, USA
National Council for Economic Education, now known as Council for Economic Education (CEE)has played a very significant role in my career as an economics teacher.
I was hired to introduce Economics and AP Economics curriculum in my school district several years ago. I was unsure and keen to seek professional guidance in a discreet manner. I got what I sought and more in this non profit organization. I did not realize its significance at that time, but now as years have elapsed I confess that, all that I received...in content area, teaching strategies, model lesson plans, classroom resources, online materials etc. had immense practical value and helped to shape me into a successful educator.
I was also fortunate to be included in a Writer's workshop conducted by this organization in Romania in 2004. This venue brought educators from emerging market economies to compile hands-on economics lessons. The experience changed my perspective on the need for economic education for all students across the globe. Success of globalization depends on the recognition and understanding of the economic concepts by future citizens of the world. This is the aim of CEE as well.
Since the start of my program, our school district has extended study of economic concepts to primary and middle school grades. Students cannot graduate from high school without credits in Economics, enrollment in my AP economics program is up, students have won awards for essay writing competitions at the Federal Reserve, Charles Schwab Foundation for Financial Literacy and particiapted in the Quiz competition organized by Ohio Council for Economic Education. In other words, CEE has been an inspiration and guide by my side in helping me succeed as an economics teacher.
