Cancer Schmancer Foundation
February 3, 2011
Ever since I was a child I have seen many family members loose the battle with cancer. I never really understood why there couldn't be anything done about it until I grew up and dug my heels into research and websites. When I was 18 I had received a phone call from my OB saying my PAP had come back with some abnormalities and I needed to schedule an appointment. Come to find out I was diagnosed with HPV at the time and needed to undergo Cryotherapy to freeze the abnormal cells off. Then I did not understand why I had to go through that procedure until it was explained to me that if I had gone without the treatment the abnormal cells could in fact develope into cervical cancer. Now 26 years old and free of abnormal cells due to the simple test of a PAP. Keep yourself protected by routine check ups with the OB and always remember ONLY you know your body, if there is something that doesn't seem right let your instincts guide you.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I am a recent addition to the Cancer Schmancer movement. I don't have any experiences as of yet except for my own situation mentioned above. I am looking forward to being a part of this movement to save the lives of women who don't know the ways to keep themselves protected against this.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
recommend more public events state wide. I personally would like to see the walks for prevention and research. There are walks for lung and breast cancers but I WOULD LOVE to see Fran Drescher bring a walk to my area of the states! I know so many people who would be interested.
Volunteer & I am a Cpht (certified pharmacy technician) and new found help for Cancer Schmancer.
