The Phoenix Symphony
January 14, 2011

This orchestra is a shell of its former self. Michael Christie is a terrible conductor. He is oblivious to the intonation problems, wrong notes, dynamics, balance etc. He is an embarrassment to our community. Phoenix is the fifth largest city in the nation and we have an orchestra that would rank among high school orchestras in other cities.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Performance

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get a real conductor

ARIZONA OPERA COMPANY
January 13, 2011

Arizona Opera has declined artistically over the past several years. I know that they have millions of dollars of debt which most likely accounts for their cheap productions. The singers are sometimes decent but the staging and lighting and sets are at an amateur level. I get the impression that they are on their last legs. I used to buy a subscription but am afraid to now because I think they will be bankrupt very soon and I will lose my money.

Several terrible performances. I would rather spend the money traveling to Santa Fe or San Francisco

Take a look at that younger company - Phoenix Opera. They seem to do everything right
