Veterans Airlift Command
November 29, 2010
My husband had a Traumatic Brain Injury and doesn't do well in crowded spaces. It was a blessing to have Veterans Airlift Command to call upon. We were taking our first trip home since my husband's injury. It was a short 4 day weekend, but long enough for us to enjoy our dogs and bring some winter clothes back from home.
Lisa Young is an amazing coordinator. She kept me posted every step of the way. My request was only a week prior to travel as I had just learned of the organization and she pulled it off.
Our 2 pilots were Bill Campbell and JJ Quinn. Bill took us home and JJ brought us back. They were so friendly and helpful. The flights themselves were great as well. They are awesome pilots.
We want to thank everyone who took part in our trip. This is an amazing organization that I have referred many other soldier's families too since our trip.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
We were granted a trip home that we couldn't have afforded and my husband couldn't have handled otherwise.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would make no changes to the organization as it is. I wish there were more organizations out there that helped with transportation to and from the airport. That was our biggest challenge since some of the airports are small and do not have taxi stands. Besides, the taxi rides can be very expensive.
