Review for The Jazz Gallery, New York, NY, USA
This may be the last venue left in New York City that provides a high level presentation of up-and-coming jazz musicians. This is not a little sliver of space next to a bar where musicians are "allowed" to play. And it's not a tiny little whole in the that can seat a maximum of 15 audience members. The Jazz Gallery is all about presenting amazing musicians in an environment that reinforces their talents and allows them to reach the maximum amount of audience members. It's clear that everything is devoted to the music...not to selling drinks (they only have wine for suggested donation) or making a crude connection to the jazz-business-marketplace. I've heard so much amazing music hear it's hard to keep it all straight in my mind.
