I feel privileged to serve on the Board of this highly effective organization. With a hands-on Board, a large and committed group of volunteers and, most importantly, an extremely skilled and dedicated staff, Friendship Place has grown from a small, neighborhood institution to one that now serves the homeless population throughout the city. Yet it has never lost sight of its original mission of providing housing and essential, direct services to some of the most vulnerable residents of D.C.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Talking to consumers of our services who are putting their lives back on track, thanks to staff members in the welcome center, the group homes, and most recently the Housing First program.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
maintain the superb staff by providing more benefits and training opportunities, but this would take additional funds.
Board Member & As a Board member, I have served on committees that have sponsored community educational events, advocated for more services, and examined the Friendship Place program. I have also participated in both large and small fundraising events.
