My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Hope-Horsemanship Opportunities For Potential Equestrians, Langley, WA, USA
I have been involved with horses my whole life, so I figured I might put that knowledge and experience to good use, such as helping others! I started two years ago and have enjoyed every bit of it. The work I have done is directly with the students, walking beside them when they are on their horse, grooming, etc. A lot of the time just being around horses and getting positive feedback raises the students confidence, which is what H.O.P.E. is all about. It also helps with things like posture and muscle toning, and all this occurs while having a great time on a horse! The students are always extremely safe, with protective gear and many volunteers to jump into action at a moments notice. I have seen many students start out with doubts about how well they will be able to ride or even just being around horses, but soon enough their faces light up and they can't remember why they had doubts in the first place! H.O.P.E. is an incredible organization that should not be passed up!
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The great feeling I get when I see the students' faces light up as they gain confidence.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Kind and very helpful. They are always very positive toward the students.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Help many people and families gain better life quality around the world. Seriously.
Ways to make it better...
My experience would have been better if I wasn't gone during the Summer session, so I could have volunteered more!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Budget and weather(although the latter can't be improved upon, unfortunately). During the winter when it's too cold and summer when it's too hot, sessions are put on hold, which is a bummer for volunteers and students.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Everybody should give H.O.P.E. a chance! It's worth it! Wether you want to volunteer or be a student.
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
About every six months
