What I want to do

I and many other families who have lost children to Sudden Cardiac Arrest are now their voice. We are dedicated to protecting our youth from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and preventable Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD).

What matters to me

April 22, 2004, my husband and I were faced with a decision no parent should have to make; we had to let our Olivia go. I found that I am one of many mothers that has been affected by this "silent killer". I have read their stories and felt their pain and sorrow. The stories are the same. All of a sudden they are holding a lifeless child in their arms, just as I had. I am now Olivia's voice. I am committed to raising sudden cardiac arrest awareness in my community. I am a mom on a mission. The goal and vision for the Bakersfield Chapter •Work with our local EMS to educate and train school personnel and coaches with CPR/AED training •Raise money for heart screenings •Create a Public Access Defibrillation Program (PAD) •Promote SCA Awareness in our community. Learning more about SCA prevention is the first step to building a safer community. When Olivia died, so much was taken away from me. I will continue advocating for Awareness and Change in the fight against sudden cardiac arrest.

What inspires me

Olivia, my daughter.

TRAVIS R ROY SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST FUND
October 17, 2013

I met Bob Roy several years ago after the death of my 14 year old daughter, due to sudden cardiac arrest. I felt the need to reach out to parents who had also suffered the loss of their child to sudden cardiac arrest. I read about The Travis R. Roy Sudden Cardiac Arrest Fund and contacted Bob.

Since then, we have become very good friends and have worked together on several projects.

Bob has worked tirelessly to raise sudden cardiac arrest awareness and the need for AEDs in all schools. Bob is dedicated to promoting solutions to prevent Sudden Cardiac Arrest in our youth.

Thank you, Bob for the wonderful work you are doing to help us Keep Young Hearts Beating.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association - Bakersfield Chapter
April 29, 2013

I started this organization in memory of my 14 year old daughter, Olivia Corinne Hoff. Olivia died from sudden cardiac arrest due to an undiagnosed heart condition known as Long QT Syndrome. Olivia's death is not in vain. I will continue to do all I can to raise awareness in my community.
