Review for International Rivers Network Dba International Rivers, Berkeley, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

International Rivers is a small organization that is fueled by an incredible amount of passion, expertise and social awareness. IR seeks to truly understand the impacts of dams on people in every region of the world, and dig deeply to understand how dams affect humans by degarding aquatic biodiversity, displacing communities and altering the lifestyles and livelihoods of riverside communities. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and positive and committed to defending the people who are directly impacted by dam development across the globe.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

working with such committed, knowledgable people!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

upbeat, hard-working, intelligent, helpful

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help support its partners in fighting dam development, especially in the developing world. Staff could directly connect with partners more often...I'm sure the possibilities are endless (more research, more staff)

Ways to make it better...

could know more about how IR's partners abroad in all of the regions responded to IR's work.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding... but also facing up against the power/money behind large-scale international development is a huge task! --serving as a voice for people is no simple task.

One thing I'd also say is that...

it would be great to hire international staff on board, too:)

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2008

Role:  General Member of the Public & I worked as an intern for International Rivers on two of their campaigns; may intern with them again.
