OF HOME FAMILY AND FUTURE INC
September 15, 2010
I lost a friend to domestic violence many years ago. One reason she didn't leave was because she couldn't figure out how to bridge that period after leaving the shelter and before achieving financial independence. I began volunteering with Of Home, Family and Future (OHFF) because they were the only organization I saw bridging that gap successfully through their Domestic Violence Initiative. Having worked with them since 2005, I have gained equal admiration for their Educational Mentoring Program, which works with students coming from the foster care system who qualify for postsecondary education opportunities.
I particularly appreciate that OHFF achieves all of this with unpaid staff, that 100% of contributions and grants go directly to program participants, that the programs have measurable outcomes, and that OHFF partners with other highly reputable agencies in order to deliver their services more efficiently. No other local programs, addressing their areas of concern, offer their participants grants for an array of services as broad as theirs or for a program period as long as theirs.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I've had a chance to come to know so many of the participants and to see their amazing progress firsthand. OHFF's program are helping these determined individuals transform their lives by expanding their opportunities.
When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
Board Member & Because OHFF has no paid staff, I am a volunteer fundraiser for them.
