My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Artreach, San Diego, CA, USA
As principal of Washington Elementary School, located in the heart of Little Italy Downtown San Diego, this has been a wonderful art program for our students. They are scheduled to work with our teachers and students six times per school year and they bring artists and materials each time for a specific purpose. For example, we meet prior to the visits and plan a curiculum aligned with California's Visual and Performing Arts Standards as well as our school's yearly events. Last year our students participated in a "Day of the Dead" or "Dia de los Muertos" project that inspired our parents to participate in making our school library a "museum" of beautiful altars dedicated to famous americans such as George Washington, Dr. Seuss, Walt Disney, Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King. The entire school participated in this event. The collaboration between ArtReach and our school is excellent. This is a program for all students, and I beleive that everyone benefitted by participating. I highly recommend this program to all elementary and middle schools. We have a preschool and I would like to include them this school year. Janie Wardlow, Principal
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
how knowledgeable they are about art and children. They are willing to work with us and make changes as needed to align with the state's standards.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
all professional, experiences and loved their work with children.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
really make an impact on a lot of children's lives. Children looked forward to coming to school on the days they had art.
