My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Society for Science & the Public, Washington, DC, USA
The Society for Science and the public is currently supporting my student research program at a rural school with a 100% Native American student population. As a teacher they have given me training and financial resources as well as ongoing mentoring support to better meet the needs of my students. The SSP Fellowship program is allowing me to do the things that I have only dreamed about doing in the science classroom due to the limited resources available in schools today. My teaching practices and my students will forever be positively impacted due to the support of SSP.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the willingness to go above and beyond to help get students interested in science! I have never as a teacher experienced the resources and support that I have gotten through SSP.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
all so friendly, encouraging and helpful. After spending a week in D.C. with during super concentrated learning sessions I really got to know them well and enjoyed our time together. They are also pretty good kickball players. :)
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
really reach out to more kids and teachers. Wow, it would be awesome for SSP to be able to do more. I wish every science teacher could take this experience to their students.
Ways to make it better...
I could go and learn from SSP every year for the rest of my teaching career!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
the challenges that face the nation. We are all working hard to get the US to rank higher in math and science fields!
One thing I'd also say is that...
thank you. I loved my experience with SSP and am still loving it! I can't say thank you enough!
