PEOPLE HELPING HORSES
July 28, 2010

I belong to a equine 4-H group and we wanted to do a community service and decided that we would pick People Helping Horses to volunteer at. Our group of about 15 girls between the ages of 9-16 went to PHH on a Saturday morning and spent 4 hours cleaning stalls, buckets and paddocks. While we were there we learned all about what PHH does to help the horses it takes in. We were all so excited about helping them that we are planning on doing it again real soon. This is a fantastic organization that has the welfare of the horses as their number one priority.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing how they successfully rehabilitate and re home the horses they rescue.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

try to get the word out to the 4-H community about what they do and how we as 4-H'ers can help.

More feedback

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

to see the look in the eyes of the horses when they realize that we are here to help them not hurt them.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I met Gretchen the director and Leslie the barn manager, they were both wonderful in telling us about PHH.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help out so many horses that the owners are unable to take care of or the horses that are in neglectful situations. No horse should ever feel the pain of starvation or the bite of a whip!

Ways to make it better...

I was available to work here much more often.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the economy and people thinking that they can make money from breeding horses that no one has the money for or the knowledge to take care of.

One thing I'd also say is that...

everytime I read the updates on the successes that are happening with the horses at PHH I get all choked up and so thankful that PHH is around to help the animals in need.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
