My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Animal Legal Defense Fund, Cotati, CA, USA
My husband and I have been donors and supporters of ALDF for many years. We initially were interested in the organization because of their unique and focused mission of fighting for animal rights through the legal system. Our support was modest at first, but as we saw the amazing work that was being done, we decided to support ALDF with more and more of our charitable contributions. While there are other (also wonderful) organizations that fight for animal rights, there are none that we are aware of that works to SHAPE the future of animal law in the way that ALDF does. The cases they choose to fight are ones that will make a difference for more than the animals involved in the case. The cases that ALDF wins protects the innocents of the future, as well as, the present. The work ALDF does incredibly important to the future of all animals. We've had the privilege of meeting and talking with some of the Executive Staff at ALDF, both current and former, and we are always impressed by their commitment to the animals. All of the attorneys and staff that work at ALDF could probably be making a lot more money elsewhere, but they choose instead to make animal rights their life's work. It's not an easy job and yet they choose it for their love of all animals. If you have any doubts that this is an incredible organization filled with incredible people, just read a few of the heartbreaking cases that they are working on. To just hear the stories is difficult, but to realize that these folks see the torture and horrors firsthand and keep fighting is nothing short of amazing. ALDF is the premier organization fighting for advances in animal law and they are making a difference, for both companion and non-companion animals alike. I highly recommend this organization and I believe that ALDF is indeed a GREAT non-profit organization!
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
knowing that the contributions I've made are being used to defend and protect those who otherwise have no voice, both now and in the future.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
COMMITTED to helping animals. They all seem to have a lot of pets, some even adopted from a case they've worked on! The staff I met were vegan, as well, so they definitely live their lives in compassionate ways.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
change the world for animals living in the U.S.!
Ways to make it better...
I had more money to contribute.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
lack of funds and support. ALDF is not as well known as PETA or HSUS, but their financial needs are just as great because legal cases are expensive to fight.
